MEET MAOLU WOIWOR

Coach Maolu Woiwor brings over 21 years of wrestling experience and a deep commitment to excellence, character development, and mentorship to Driftless Ranch Wrestling Camps. As the Camp Director and Coach, he has designed a unique camp experience that blends elite wrestling instruction with the rugged beauty of the outdoors, helping athletes grow both on and off the mat.

After competing at the highest levels, Coach Maolu transitioned into coaching, training under Minnesota’s winningest wrestling coach, Jim Jackson, at Shakopee High School. His ability to lead high-intensity practices, inspire young athletes, and develop strong relationships with wrestlers and their families quickly earned him recognition in the wrestling community.

Coach Maolu believes that wrestling is more than just a sport- it’s a tool for developing life skills. His coaching philosophy focuses on self-discipline, gratitude, perseverance, and humility, ensuring that each wrestler not only improves their technique but also gains confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of community.

When he’s not coaching, Coach Maolu enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, fishing, playing pickleball, and staying active. His passion for the outdoors and mentorship is what makes Driftless Ranch Wrestling Camps such a one-of-a-kind training experience.

Driftless Ranch Wrestling Camp FAQs

  • This camp is located in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin.

  • Driftless Ranch Wrestling Camps are more than just training camps – they’re an opportunity for young wrestlers to unplug, focus, and push themselves in an environment that celebrates hard work, resilience, and the spirit of wrestling. Whether your child is just starting or is an experienced wrestler, they’ll leave with new techniques, friendships, and memories.

  • Our camps focus on building technique, strength, and mental toughness through personalized instruction from experienced coaches, including former collegiate wrestlers and wrestling champions. Each day combines high-intensity wrestling sessions with team-building activities like trail hikes, bonfires, and even hands-on ranch experiences, fostering a sense of camaraderie and confidence.

  • Your camp fee covers everything your wrestler needs for an unforgettable experience at Driftless Ranch Wrestling Camps! This includes:

    • Elite Wrestling Training: Personalized coaching from experienced wrestlers and champions, focused on technique, strength, and mental toughness.

    • Lodging & Meals: Comfortable accommodations and nutritious meals, plus snacks to keep energy levels high.

    • Outdoor & Team-Building Activities: Trail hikes, bonfires, and hands-on ranch experiences that build camaraderie and resilience.

    • Recreation & Fun: When wrestlers aren’t on the mat, they can unwind in our arcade and game room, swim in the pool, or enjoy a movie in our on-site theatre.

We take care of everything so wrestlers can focus on training, growth, and having an unforgettable time!

  • To better support families, we are happy to introduce monthly installment payment plans for all Driftless camps this summer. This option allows families to secure a spot without needing to pay the full cost upfront.

    How it works:

        •    Payment plans will be available at registration

        •    Monthly installments can be set up automatically

        •    Balance must be fully paid no later than one month before your wrestler’s camp date

We hope this makes the Driftless experience more accessible, especially for families sending siblings or multiple wrestlers. This is something many parents asked for, and we’re excited to offer a more affordable and flexible pathway to camp this year.

  • This year we will not be hosting a girls-exclusive camp. However, we will be offering up to 10 reserved spots for girl wrestlers in each campthroughout the summer.

    Girls registered will have:

        •    Separate lodging from the boys

        •    A female chaperone staying with them in their assigned room

        •    At least one female counselor/coach assigned to them for the full duration of the camp

Our goal is to ensure that female athletes maintain a safe, comfortable, and fully supported experience while still gaining exposure to the collective training environment.

We’re excited to continue growing this group and providing high-level development opportunities for our girl wrestlers this summer.

  • We go by the grade the wrestler will be entering in the fall after summer camps.

That said, we’re flexible for wrestlers who are on the cusp (a year early or late), depending on factors like size, experience, maturity, and whether siblings or a group are attending a certain camp.

Feel free to email us at driftlesscamps@gmail.com if you have a specific situation that falls into a grey area.
